One Material,
Made for Your Rooms
All of our shutters are made to measure from Basswood: a light, stable hardwood that holds a crisp painted finish and won't warp across a sunny bay window. Because every set is built to your exact openings, we can shutter almost any window in the house, from a standard bedroom sash to an awkward arched or splayed bay.
The biggest decision is usually the louvre (blade) size, because it changes how the shutters look and how much light and view you get. We offer four: 63mm, 76mm, 89mm and 114mm. Smaller blades suit period rooms and smaller windows; larger blades give a cleaner, more contemporary look and a wider view when open. We'll talk it through against your actual windows at the free home visit.

Shutter Styles
Choose the Right Style
for Each Window
Most homes mix a couple of these: full-height in the bedrooms, café-style in a street-facing kitchen, tier-on-tier in the lounge. We'll recommend what suits each room when we visit.
Full-Height
One continuous run of shutters covering the whole window from sill to head. It's our most popular style: clean, simple and timeless. Add a mid-rail so the top and bottom louvres tilt separately, giving you privacy below while letting light in above.
Best for: bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and most standard windows.
Tier-on-Tier
Two independent sets of panels stacked one above the other, each opening separately. Open the top tier for light and keep the bottom closed for privacy, ideal where you're overlooked. It gives the most flexibility of any style.
Best for: tall sash windows, period properties and ground-floor rooms facing the street.
Café-Style
Shutters that cover only the lower half of the window, leaving the top open and uncovered. They give privacy at eye level while keeping the room bright and the upper view clear, a favourite for kitchens and front rooms.
Best for: kitchens, dining rooms and street-facing windows where you want light and privacy.
Bay & Bow Windows
Bay windows are where made-to-measure really earns its keep. Each panel is built and angled to your exact bay so the shutters follow the window around cleanly, with no gaps at the joints. We measure and template every angle on site.
Best for: traditional Glasgow tenement and sandstone bays, bow windows and box bays.
Shaped & Special Shapes
Arched, circular, triangular, raked and other non-standard openings, all built to template. Shaped shutters can be fixed or made to open, depending on the window, and we'll advise what works once we've measured.
Best for: arched feature windows, gable-end triangles, landings and circular openings.
Solid Panel
Solid wooden panels in place of louvres, for a more traditional, fully-enclosed look that blocks light when closed. They can be combined with louvred panels (solid below, louvred above) for the best of both.
Best for: period interiors, bedrooms wanting maximum blackout and traditional room schemes.
Blade Sizes
Four Blade Sizes,
One Right Answer
The louvre size sets the character of the shutter. We offer four (63mm, 76mm, 89mm and 114mm) so we can match the blade to the proportions of the window rather than forcing one size onto every room.
As a rough guide: 63mm and 76mm suit smaller and period windows and keep a traditional look; 89mm is the most popular all-rounder; and 114mm gives a bold, contemporary feel with the widest, clearest view when the louvres are open. There's no extra charge for choosing the right one. We'll show you the difference at the home visit.
