Privacy & Cookies

How we handle your information, and the small amount of measurement we do, only ever with your consent.

Your Privacy

This page explains what personal information The Shutter Station Ltd collects when you use this website or get in touch, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this deliberately short and plain. We do not sell your data, and we do not use any advertising or social-media tracking pixels on this site.

Who we are (data controller)

The Shutter Station Ltd is the data controller for the information you give us. You can contact us about anything on this page at:

What we collect, and why

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and arrange your free home visit:

  • Details you send us: when you fill in our quote form, email us, or call, we collect your name, contact details (phone and/or email), your address or area, and what you tell us about your windows. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, together with our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
  • How you found us: the quote form records which page you arrived on and any campaign tags in the link you followed (for example a "utm_source" tag). This helps us understand which adverts and listings are worth keeping. This is tied to your enquiry, not to advertising profiles.
  • Anonymous usage measurement: if (and only if) you accept cookies, Google Analytics 4 records anonymised, aggregated information about how the site is used (pages viewed, rough region, device type). We have IP anonymisation switched on. See Cookies below.

How we use it

We use the details you send to reply to you, arrange and carry out your free home visit, prepare a quote, and, if you go ahead, make and fit your shutters. We use the anonymous measurement only to keep the website working well and to understand which adverts and listings bring genuine enquiries. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We use a small number of trusted service providers purely to run the site and our enquiries:

  • Our website hosting (a UK hosting provider), which runs the site.
  • Formspree (Formspree, Inc., United States) operates our quote form: it receives what you submit and forwards it to our inbox. Because Formspree is US-based, your enquiry is processed in the United States; Formspree sets out how it handles and protects your information, including this transfer, in its privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics, only if you accept cookies (see below). Google may process this data outside the UK under the appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only as long as we need them. Enquiries that do not lead to work are routinely deleted within 12 months. Where your enquiry leads to a job, we keep the related records for 6 years after the work to meet UK tax and accounting requirements, and then delete them. Anonymous Analytics data is retained within Google Analytics for up to 14 months and is not linked to you personally.

Cookies

When you first arrive, no analytics cookies are set and your visit is not measured. We use Google Consent Mode v2: the Google Analytics tag loads in a denied state, so it stores nothing and does not measure you until you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner. Nothing is ever shared with advertising services.

  • If you choose "Reject": no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics does not measure your visit. We remember your choice using a single small entry in your browser's local storage (named ss_consent) so we do not ask you again. This is a strictly necessary preference and is not used for tracking.
  • If you choose "Accept": Google Analytics 4 is allowed to set its measurement cookies (for example _ga) so we can see anonymised, aggregated usage. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.

We do not use Facebook/Meta pixels, Google Ads remarketing tags, or any other advertising or social-media tracking on this site. This complies with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), which require your consent before non-essential cookies are set.

You can change your choice at any time: manage your cookie settings to bring the banner back and choose again.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us to:

  • see a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong, or complete anything missing;
  • delete your information where we no longer need it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it; and
  • receive a copy in a portable format where that applies.

To exercise any of these, just email info@theshutterstation.co.uk or call 0141 628 7175. We will respond within one month.

Complaints

We would always rather you came to us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data-protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
